Hortensia was a school teacher who made a difference in many children’s lives. She made learning fun and relevant. Her children were lucky to have a teacher for a mom and as a result, they attended school with her for most of their childhoods.
Hortensia loved to sing, and our home was filled with music. She often sang for guests. Everyone loved to listen to her. She also enjoyed traveling and visited many countries in Europe, South America, China, Canada as well as many states in America.
On November 3, 2001, with her husband’s support, she was ordained as the Rev. Yin Zhi Shakya at the Temple Hsu Yun in Honolulu. There she began her love and passion for Buddha. She authored two books, titled Lo Relativo y lo Absoluto and El Sutra de Hui-Neng. She has translated to Spanish many important documents. Her translations and writing have impacted countless lives.
We were lucky to have her in our lives. She will be missed by all of us.
